" LakooDesigns is a celebration of roots, journeys, and the vibrant spirit of my many homes. It all began in Gilan, a lush and vibrant region by the Caspian Sea in northern Iran. Renowned for its colorful textiles, joyous music, and strong women, Gilan embodies beauty, life, and calm happiness. The spirit of Lakoo is deeply personal.
My grandmother called me "Lakoo," meaning "daughter" in Gilaki, the language of Gilan. This name became the heart of my brand, embodying the warmth, joy, and creativity of my cultural heritage.
My journey with jewelry began in 2007 when I pursued professional studies in gemmology and design, taking me from Tehran to Thailand, the United Kingdom, and finally to Montreal, Canada. There, I opened my first studio, bench-jeweling my designs and drawing inspiration from Montreal’s urban vibrancy and European flair. Each step of my journey has shaped Lakoo’s essence, a fusion of tradition, exploration, and the beauty found in every corner of the world.
In Tehran, a city like a bouquet of flowers gathered from every corner of Iran, I dreamt of sharing the beauty of gems and metalwork found in the bustling alleys of the bazaar. In my bedroom, I began to build Lakoo, envisioning designs that would connect my roots with the world beyond my borders.
Today, LakooDesigns is rooted in Vancouver, where I craft jewelry inspired by the sunlit days of Gilan, laughter rippling across water, and the riotous colors of wildflowers. Each piece carries the spirit of my many homes—a reminder of the joy, strength, and beauty that unites us all. "
